Aim: How did Italy deal with the Great Depression?

1. Benito Mussolini was the fascist dictator of Italy during the Great Depression.
2. Italy was not affected as greatly by the Great Depression as other European nations.
3. Northern Italy was affected because of its large industrial centers.
4. Southern Italy was mainly farms and small shops.



2. Mussolini's Vision of Italy

1. Mussolini wanted Italy to dominate and control the entire Mediterranean region.
2. Mussolini called the Mediterranean Sea -- "Italy's Lake."
3. In 1915, Italy invaded and took control of Libya.
4. In 1935, Italy invaded and controlled Ethiopia which protested to the League of Nations.
