- Italy was not affected as greatly by the Great Depression as other European nations.
- Northern Italy was affected because of its large industrial centers.
- Southern Italy was mainly farms and small shops.
Mussolini's Vision of Italy
- Mussolini wanted Italy to dominate and control the entire Mediterranean region.
- Mussolini called the Mediterranean Sea -- "Italy's Lake."
- In 1915, Italy invaded and took control of Libya.
- In 1935, Italy invaded and controlled Ethiopia which protested to the League of Nations.
